Well-researched, but a bit outdated. The end is so hopeful, but we haven't really changed much, have we?

The English major in me loves this book. The use of letters, journals, and phonograph recordings to tell the story--delightful!

Since it's from 2003, parts of it feel dated today, but I still like it. Maybe that's because I first read it in 2004! Still, it's entertaining if a bit unbelievable.

If you're interested in gardening, baking, making cheese, preserving foods, green cleaning, or even making a composting toilet, this is the book for you. It's a little geared towards a southwestern climate, it's still a very useful tool.

Most other books talk about how terrible conditions are for the animals. Safran Foer certainly does that, but he also mentions the effects factory farming has on people. It's a touching book that has made me reconsider how I eat.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's evident that the author died before it was finished, but I still found it an enjoyable read.
