You know an author has hit the mark when you don't want the book to end. I wanted the solving of the murder prolonged just a bit more so that I could continue to immerse myself in the the characters and community the author created. I have read several Hamish Mcbeth mysteries and still have several more to read. I look forward to every one . I get excited every time I start a new one. Hamish is odd, funny and canny. Hooray for Hamish.

I love this series. So far I have read all the titles available. I can only hope that Ms. Harris has plans to take this series further. The stories are fun and you really get into the characters, also you get right into trying to guess the murderer and have a hard time putting the book down. Worth every one of the 5 stars I gave.I love this series. So far I have read all the titles available. I can only hope that Ms. Harris has plans to take this series further. This book was just as good as the others I have read. It is always pleasing to join Sophie for a little murder and manners.

Beaton puts enough twists and turns in this book to keep you really guessing. A very good Agatha Raisin adventure.

It has been quite awhile since I read a Mrs. Jeffries story, and though it had been so long, it was so easy to get right back into her world. With Mrs. Jeffries and the rest of the likeable household staff, it feels right at home. There were a lot of twists and turns in this one, and it was hard to get a sense of who the killer was until right at the end.It has been quite awhile since I read a Mrs. Jeffries story, and though it had been so long, it was so easy to get right back into her world. Agatha Raisin is likeable because she is not some flaxen haired twenty some year old with a perfect figure and face. She is relatable. She is curmudgeon for sure, but that is part of the reason I like her. I usually can jump right into the story with gusto with the other Agatha Raisin books, but I found it hard to really get settled in with this one. That is why I only gave this one three stars, where I normally give four or five. I was surprised that I did not enjoy this one as much as the others I have read so far.Agatha Raisin is likeable because she is not some flaxen haired twenty some year old with a perfect figure and face. Another satisfying read from Beaton. Reading each Hamish Macbeth book is like reconnecting with an old friend. I like how attached he is to his animals, always looking to their comfort while still doing his duty and always outsmarting Blair. I have read both of the Castle Dark mysteries. Although I have enjoyed the plots, the sappy romance and sexual innuendoes are too much like the bodice ripping historical romances. Too sappy and totally unreal. It just ruins a good cozy for me. I read cozies for the clean fun I find in them.I have read both of the Castle Dark mysteries. Agatha Raisin is a curmudgeon that you grow very fond of. She is bold and brash and gets results. I enjoyed the twist in this story involving a murder no one even knew had happened. To me this another feather in Ms. Beatons cap.
