Shortly after the suicide of his classmate, Clay receives a set of cassette tapes in which Hannah chronicles the reasons that drove her to take her life. This is a deeply moving, immensely powerful novel. It is highly engaging, even suspenseful. It provides insight into some of the struggles that teens face, and will perhaps help us to be more aware of the consequences of our actions.Shortly after the suicide of his classmate, Clay receives a set of cassette tapes in which Hannah chronicles the reasons that drove her to take her life. This is a powerful novel, giving a snapshot of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, from the perspective of a young Palestinian shepherdess. It opened my eyes to the other side of the story, making me realize that it's not so simple. An important book.

A visually stunning depiction of Queen Victoria's early reign. Blunt is radiant as Victoria, and the relationship between the Queen and Prince consort (Rupert Friend) was sweet and touching. This book is amazing! A dystopic novel about a world in which there are no children because humans have figured out how to live forever. Children that are born illegally are taken away and trained to serve their "betters." Anna has come to terms with her place in life as a surplus, but when a mysterious boy shows up and tells her about the parents that love her, her whole world is about to change. This book is amazing! This was an enjoyable novel. Though it is marketed as a companion to Graceling, it takes place in a different world, and has only one character in common. This character was not pivotal to the story at all, and I felt like Cashore was capitalizing on the success of her first novel. I would have enjoyed this more if it was written as a stand-alone novel. It is a good story, featuring another strong heroine who journeys to discover herself and to save a kingdom. This was an enjoyable novel. A fictionalized and highly romanticized film adaptation of the story of the nine days queen. Helena Bonham Carter physically looks the part of the diminuitive queen, but she failed to capture the strong and intelligent young girl that was Jane Grey. Cary Elwes was quite entertaining as Guilford Dudley. Some parts were quite touching while others fell flat. Not a bad movie, just don't expect it to be accurate.A fictionalized and highly romanticized film adaptation of the story of the nine days queen. This is not your typical action-packed end-of-the-world book. It is the powerful story of one family's struggle to survive after the world is forever changed by a freak natural disaster. It is tragic, gripping and heart-breaking, yet there are glimmers of hope throughout the novel that make you think-just somehow- everything will be okay. The sequels are equally gripping. This is not your typical action-packed end-of-the-world book. I thought this was an interesting premise. It's sorta've a time travel novel, but it's got more of a romantic premise than a science fiction or supernatual premise. A teenage girl moves in with her Aunt to escape her abusive boyfriend. She crosses the clearing near her house to find a boy trapped with his family in 1944, trying to avoid an inevitable tragedy. This novel is bittersweet; the protagonist must take an emotional journey to find inner strength and esteem, while her love must accept the tragedies in his life, and perhaps even sacrifice his dreams to save his family. An enjoyable read, though the dialogue and writing style felt stiff and forced at time.I thought this was an interesting premise.
