Amazing book. A must-read for any American. Read it and realize the Soviets are now the Russians. And that our world is a lot less safe than most people realize. Amazing book.

Must-read. Lawrence Wright's journalism skills, narrative skills, and fact-checking skills combine to tell a highly readable and highly educational story of some of the more nefarious Muslim hate-filled nutjobs of late and how some of them got that way. America's sacred separation of church and state is the opposite of Islamists who want their countries run not by informed democracies but by guys (never women) who want religious homogeneity, and after reading this book, you will realize why separation of church and state is so crucial to a free and enlightened democratic republic. Yes, the story of the Islamic nutjobs in Looming Towers is the same sad story as a number of world religions that have wormholed through the short history of our earth's civilization -- often by death and murder -- but Looming Towers tells the reader all about the current Gestapo: intolerant Islamists.Must-read. Amazing and shocking story of craziness in Olympia Washington from the late 1980s. Gary Tabor ought to be ashamed. Wright nails this story as he did "Going Clear" and "Looming Towers." Really hits the nail on the head describing Olympia, and opens your eyes to how its mix of uber-leftie-ness and conservativism created a delusional maelstrom of injustice. Reminds me why "beyond a reasonable doubt" matters and why the prosecutor's role is BOTH to prosecute and punish AND to protect the rights of the accused. I am shocked at what this book reveals about Judge Tabor's profound and utter failings.Amazing and shocking story of craziness in Olympia Washington from the late 1980s. No longer does anyone need to have any question that Scientology is an evil, criminal, insidious cult and its founder L. Ron Hubbard was a freakin' nut. This was an awesome book. Read it, and learn the truth about Scientology. Don't hate Scientologists -- they're all victims, every last one. What a shame the IRS let us all down, huge. This book deserves another Pulitzer for Wright. Must-read.No longer does anyone need to have any question that Scientology is an evil, criminal, insidious cult and its founder L. Hockey fans know Canadians have some odd genetic predisposition to hockey. This book paints a Quebecois hockey vignette, and I question how far it is from the truth. The book is a very fast read, kind of fun, but not at all uplifting. I wouldn't recommend this to many -- only avid hockey fans over 13. But then, it's really not that great a book.Hockey fans know Canadians have some odd genetic predisposition to hockey. Theo Fleury is a narcissist of the highest order. If you want to read way too much from a guy that loves only himself and is into only himself, and thinks he has no malodorous fecal matter simply because he can play a wicked game of hockey, this book is for you. For all others, except those who are major hockey fans, skip this tripe. For serious hockey fans, this book is a must-read. Yeah, Theo was molested as a kid, and Graham James is a slug. But is reading about Theoren's horrible past worth your time? Maybe people who have been victims of sexual abuse might find his story inspiring, but I think Theo's book reveals this victim so egomaniacal that it's mostly annoying. I found the inside stories of the NHL really interesting, though. If you're a hockey nut, this is a must-read. Maybe he's a mirror-lover because of the abuse; but he plays Hamlet way WAY too much for me to give him a pass. He needs to get over himself. But interesting hockey tales.Theo Fleury is a narcissist of the highest order. My favorite film ever. Chicago expats will love the scenerey. The music is unbelievable. Get loud speakers when you play this -- Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway....wow. Probably not for kids under like 16 though.
