What a great travel writer! Funny like Douglas Adams...though through all the hardships this books makes one a little less envious of retreating to an idyllic desert island...!

Despite its title, this book has little to say about sex and tells you nothing about cannibals, unless you count the dog-eat-dog nature of the island’s canine population. The book does give you Troost’s wildly humorous account of two…

This is a funny, irreverent, tale of the author and his wife's 2 year sojourn in one of the remotest places in the world. I don't understand the title as there is nothing in the book that has to do with cannibals or sex and it seems…

Living on a tropical atoll sounds like everyone's idea of paradise, right? This story may just shift your perspective. Written long after the author's two-year escape to Kiribati, an isolated island nation in the South Pacific, The Sex…

Excellent book! Allows you to live vicariously through the author as he details a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to an isolated South Pacific island. Well written - both clever and funny. The worst part was that the book had to end!

Brilliantly funny travel diary about an American who undergoes culture shock when he goes to live on a small pacific Island. Full of bizarre and hilarious vignettes, like landing a plane on a runway full of pigs and playing children, or…
