Good grief, how many times do people need to be reminded that wild animals are WILD, i.e., unpredictable and dangerous! Please, people, go to YouTube and check out @CasualGeographic to get an understanding of what interacting with wild…

Excellent storytelling in this documentary that depicts both the beauty and raw indifference of nature, and tragic consequences of untreated mental illness.

Second viewing, almost twenty years later. Still a favourite documentary about nature, although it is not a nature documentary.

SELF-STYLED BEAR expert Timothy Treadwell lived among bears in an Alaskan wildlife refuge for 13 summers, shooting plenty of astounding video. His actual knowledge of bears can be judged from his breathless narration of a sequence of two…

This 104-minute documentary explores the life and death of amateur grizzly bear expert and wildlife preservationist who lived unarmed among grizzlies for 13 summers. Grizzlies cannot be our friends. Amazing and eye-opening!

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen...and every time I think of it, I want to find that song at the end.

🐻 This documentary from Werner Herzog, the toughest man in the movie business, ain't "Marty Stouffer's Wild America." It's about the delusional, self-dramatizing Timothy Treadwell, who was a self-styled protector of grizzly bears,…

Exploring the late Grizzly Man from different angles reveals a man of conviction, controversy and craziness. The coriner's explanation of his and girlfriend Amie's demise told only as a desensitized coriner can. A collage of Grizzly Man's…

Very strange man - very strange documentary. Would not recommend!

I was and am still conflicted with how I feel about the late Treadwell, and his filming of bears. On one hand, I admire his love of animals and nature, but on the other I felt he was far too much of an extremist. The entire movie,…

Interesting doc in that you dont see many like it. Maybe he was kind of crazy doing what he did, but I have to agree with him in that he seems to relate more to the animals than people, and most of the time I feel the same.

Werner Herzog's stirring, thought-provoking documentary meditates with exceeding insight into the mind that drove the man.

As many have said, disturbing, but not in the way you may assume. With the increased urbanization of our culture has come an increased love of the natural world, but with a decreased understanding of it. To be blunt, city people with…

A terrific film about what NOT to do in the wild. It sheds great light on the life of that man and what happened to his woman friend.

This is one great movie! This man really did understand bears, even the old bear who ate the man. In the movie he tells about this bear, and predicted it might kill him, and ten days later it did just like he thought it would. Once he …

I'm concerned that Herzog's films are categorized as documentaries. It's becoming evident over his filmography that he often invents significant characters into his version of documentaries. See his ‘Minnesota Declaration' …

A disturbing documentary. Not visually, as it is a thing of beauty to watch Tim Treadwell commune with nature and animals in a national park in remote Alaska. But the self-documentary style of his own footage showed he was an idealistic…

This guy was a total narcissist. Claimed he was somehow "saving" bears. He deserved what he got. But his up-close video of grizzlies is stunningly beautiful.

Very different from any wildlife movie I have ever watched. Timothy Treadwell had good intentions, but I think he was somewhat deranged towards the end of his life. He seemed to think he was part of the grizzly bear population instead of…

There are some fantastic scenes caught on camera. It is a shame what happened to him. When working with Grizzlies, one calculated error and you die a miserable but somewhat quick death. It's a dangerous business, and I for one am grateful…

Herzog does little to build a traditional narrative, which allows the viewer more freedom to examine and interpret on their own.

Timothy Treadwell had a great love for these wild creatures but definitely lost touch with reality. It's a bear and a grizzly at that. Sad and very tragic ending.

I've watched this movie three times about 2 or 3 years apart with new company that I introduce it to. Everyone loves it. The most fascinating part for me is that every time I watch it, it's a different movie to me. I see completely new…
