I recently read “Other Birds”by the same author and found it very enjoyable, so thought I would try another of her books. This one did not disappoint! It was a fun read with interesting characters and the little twist of magic. I told a…

Gentle story about Waverly women who work subtle magic, and the family apple tree that throws apples to them. A refreshing change from rom coms and huge plots about empires.

After years apart, the Waverley sisters are reunited. The two never got along with each other. One was always jealous of the other and the other did not want to associate or be known to be related to the other. The Waverlys are known for…

Magical realism genre. It was predictable, yet I found it comforting to read, a gentle pace that helped me relax and take it easy. The setting is Bascom, NC, there is a Bascom Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, NC...not sure the…

The first “magical realism” book I have read. Totally enjoyed. The story of sisters, a magical tree, and their “gifts”. A must read!!

This magical novel reunites two sisters in need of love and healing. This was my first experience with this author and I look forward to reading more from them.

This book is magical - I hated for it to end. I loved the story and the characters, and I know I'll re-read it dozens of times.

Garden Spells was a delightful and unexpected read. The clever writing never spells out magic which is what any good author should do; it lets the reader draw their own conclusions. Settings were beautifully described and the inner…

Think Alice Hoffman takes a trip underneath the magnolia trees and meets up with Flannery O Connor... and you come up with this book. This book is as sweet as the honeysuckle that wafts through the night and tickles the nose and the senses…

Anyone in the mood for a light, sweet story and some magic will enjoy this book, particularly if you like Southern US literature. You really do need to be in the mood to totally suspend your disbelief, but it’s worth it. The magical apples…

This is my go to title when I'm ready to dive into a lovely story studded with one families history and their connection to flowers and plants. Suspense, town gossip, and a magical apple tree make for great entertainment.

The apple tree was my favourite character, along with clueless Claire. I absolutely admire authors who can make a character out of an object (i.e. Gladys, the bicycle, in Alan Bradley's novels).

Not my usual type of read, but I read this for a book club and thoroughly enjoyed it. Set in North Carolina featuring a family of witches. Don't worry, they're not THAT kind of witches, they just know herbs and like helping people. I'd…

A truly magical novel, but more than that, a story about family and the bonds that can never be broken. I loved it.
