A classic for obvious reasons, I had to read Jane Eyre for school and found it appropriately enjoyable. I wasn’t as gripped by it as I am by most classics, the plot moved at a more relaxed pace and Jane doesn’t always have a clear goal,…

Long and a bit difficult to read since it's an oldie, but well worth it. The first half of this book was tough for me to read as it lays out the ground work for the rest of the book, and there isn't too much conflict. But in the second…

Even though it's hard to read, it's worth the effort. Sure glad I wasn't born during those times.

My challenge was to read a "classic". Almost every list of the "greatest classics" that I researched included Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Especially considering when it was written, the novel certainly earns that distinction.

Very much enjoyed the first half. I’m here for Jane’s strong will, her bleak, depressing early years, and the haunting at Thornfield. But dear god the men in this book are insufferable babies. Manipulative, brooding monsters who can’t take…

The nickname, “plain Jane,” stems from Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre, in which the main protagonist, Jane, is defined as being dull, unremarkable, and ordinary. This sobriquet emphasizes her lack of importance and presence in society,…

This is a beautifully written story. I have read it and reread it again and again throughout the years, and I don't tire of it. It follows Jane Eyre and her life of hardship. Even when she is finally happy and loved, something yet again…

Jane Eyre is a compelling book that follows the life of a young orphan who faces a life of hardship and sorrow. Her lows are extravagant, but this story truly encapsulates the struggles many people face daily. At a young age, Jane is…

Jane Eyre describes the seemingly plain and boring life of Jane Eyre — or so it seems. Jane must deal with struggles with her evil Aunt Reed, the horrid conditions at school, and problems with her very complicated and regretful love…

This book is, on the surface, a romance novel about a girl who grows up and falls in love. For me, the book was a little hard to get through; it was very repetitive and the middle was a little boring. Overall, I'd say if you really like…

“Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë tells the story of an orphaned girl who didn’t feel belongingness anywhere--that is, until she arrives at Thornfield. Jane, an independent young woman (rare for the time), works as a governess for Mr.…

This is definitely a book not to miss. And particularly considering it was written in 1847, it is amazing to me Charlotte Bronte's insightfulness and verve which were beyond any mainstream consciousness. Original and brilliant.
