Following her parents' tragic death, Cameron's grandmother and her super-religious aunt move into her home in rural Montana. At twelve, Cameron is just starting to become aware of her sexuality, and continues to feel tremendous guilt about…

This was one of the first books I ever read with LGBT+ representation. I try and reread it every once in a while, just because of the impact it had on me as a younger person. The reader follows a girl who is unexpectedly and tragically…

Cameron is so real she has become a friend and the ghost of my childhood both--she is class of '95, as am I. I loved being able to live as teen again, to experience Cameron and her life.

This book was phenomenal! The way Emily Danforth describes Cameron's thoughts and actions is endearing and ultimately relatable. Definitely worth the read, could not put it down.

I'm not sure why, but I got bored with this book about a third of the way through. I loved it in the beginning, finding the internal life of the main character so real and compelling and lovable. And the way she dealt with her burgeoning…

This YA novel tells the story of a lesbian teenager in rural Montana struggling to find her way after losing her parents. She is sent to a "reeducation" camp by her fundamentalist aunt but finds a way to stay her true self.

A beautifully written coming of age story about finding yourself, even when everyone around you tells you you're wrong. Cameron Post is a wonderfully complicated and fully fleshed out character, who you alternately cringe at and root for.…

Basically the story of Cameron's sexuality, from experimenting with her childhood best friend to going to conversion camp. There's some angst, but Cameron is low-key bad ass and there's a handful of sweet little gay scenes. It's an easy…

Cameron Post is my forever favorite character in the entire freaking universe. She glides through the rough, unforgiving story, finding happiness and love in the small glints of sunlight through the shrouded windowpane. Gotta love it, what…

I thoroughly appreciated the change of perspective from the traditional ya novel. There are an abundance of YA novels that I find difficult to read because they are so full f teenage angst that they make me feel slightly ill. I've been…

It's very hard to give someone a brief summary of the book that fully covers the story. Cameron Post grows up in rural Montana and is a lesbian. That's the set up for the novel, and along Cameron's journey she struggles with this. The book…

EXCELLENT book for a report over the need for gay rights in America or like topics. Excellent book even if you just want something to read next. It's lengthy but goes by very quickly and is definitely worth your time.

Cameron hits you like a real person, someone to relate to. This book is so good and I would recommend it to nearly everyone.

I wanted to like Cameron Post (after all, I was a young lesbian once, too), but she is so self-absorbed that I couldn't. That she spends most of her free time (at home and at Promise) stoned or drunk didn't help.

Totally fantastic! I loved pretty much all the characters, even the ones that frustrated me (Ruth, mostly, but Coley too). Really satisfying read.

What a standout book for this genre. Recently I have of found that YA books read like they are written by an average teenager, rather than being about teenagers. This book was very different: exceptional writing, great plot and well…

This book was great. The story is all about Cameron, a small town girl, growing into her sexuality as a lesbian. It is a really great portrayal - from the first kiss, to the first straight-girl crush and beyond. The details of the story…

A wonderfully written and excellent portrayal of youth discovery and angst. A must read for any themed read for senior students on sexuality and a terrific insight for all of us. So wonderful to have a honest portrayal of a teenage girl…
