I loved this as much as "I Want My Hat Back" and that is saying a lot because I loved that book. Same sense of humor, same sort of story telling that lets you connect the dots, same excellent artwork. Terrific book that made my kid laugh…

This is a wonderful, funny book that will have both adults and kids laughing! Klassen makes this tale engaging both through his words and his illustrations.

My favourite from the hat box collection. Klassen does an amazing job of getting so much emotion across through such simple illustrations. Really funny for kids and adults.

Following the aesthetic of Klassen’s other works, this is Not My Hat is a fun short tale of theft and repercussions told in a lovely tone without being to crass or graphic. It looks to be either mixed-medium collage or mixed watercolor.…

Klassen brings back capital punishment for theft. I prefer I Want My Hat Back because I like doing the different animal voices. The story, art and lessons within both great for ages 2 and up since this is when kids are most klepto.…

Cute, funny. Sure the fish steals a hat and probably gets eaten by the big fish that owns it but it's only assumed he gets eaten. You don't see anything. For all you know, he just took the hat back. We enjoyed it

A great follow up to I Want My Hat Back, although I do not like this one quite as much. I think it's a first love thing coupled with how weird and off-putting I generally find fish.

This book is hilarious! I think every kid with a sneaky plan that didn't work out will identify with this book! I know I did LOL! And Klassen is a great artist.

I only like this one slightly more than "I Want my Hat Back." At least it doesn't have a disturbing all red page. Still: steal something, get eaten?

I like this book because the thinking process of the small fish. He actually tried to deceive others and deceive himself. But eventually, God (the big fish). He will not allow others to steal. I think the small fish (human beings) finally…

What better way to describe this than with the text inside the front cover? "A fish has stolen a hat. And he'll probably get away with it. Probably." This is so simple and funny, and my son LOVED being able to anticipate what was going…

Klassen's works are must-reads. They are understated little miracles, like nature documentaries with an interior monologue, deceit... and hats. Never forget the hats.

We liked this book because the little fish stole the hat and it fit him right and we liked how the story ended because we didn't know what happened to the little fish- maybe the big fish ate the small fish up.

Great book for inferencing ...... what happened to the little fish? No one ever really knows. We have a song that goes with this book. Oh where, oh where has the little fish gone? Oh where, oh where can he be? He took the hat…

Not as excellent as "I want my hat back" but still very good. A little gritty, in a good way. Though I often wonder about the avenging aspect of these two books: how to children process revenge? As justice or cruelty?

All right, so it's no big secret: our fishy protagonist has stolen a hat. (At least he doesn't try to deny it, right?) Narrating his progress in one continuous monologue, the fish makes his way through the pitch-black sea, with only rocks…

Another great one from Jon Klassen. The whole time the kids were anticipating the outcome and were not disappointed. So subtle yet so funny!

The follow-up book to "I Want My Hat Back", which I do recommend be read first, for there are elements this story makes use of to make it all the more funny. "This is Not My Hat" is very well thought out and paced; the expressions of the…
