Some about machinery, mostly about musicians being pleased with what accomplished.

Somewhat interesting, but there are better documentaries and books about rock and roll.

Where else would anyone ever think to put Trent Reznor and Barry Manilow? Dave Grohl really did his homework and what a piece of equipment he purchased! Worth watching more than once!

That was fantastic. Apparently I owe a whole lot of my musical taste and the existence of some of my favourite albums to Sound City - a recording studio and the custom ordered Neve sound board. Analog and unforgiving, if you couldn't play…

A must-see for amateur musicologists and rock fans. Learn some of the recording secrets that made this place legendary. 'Nevermind' was recorded here. Magical; legendary; holy.

I completely agree with the earlier review submitted by sweetlou. The first hour of this documentary is definitely interesting, complete with unexpected cameos by some of the biggest names in rock and roll history. However, the last…

Think of this as two movies. The first 60 minutes is a wonderful documentary about Sound City. That unique soundboard is the reason why the albums recorded there sound so good. Albums like "Rumors" and "Nevermind" are filled with great…

I really enjoyed learning about this legendary studio. Dave Grohl did an excellent job with this documentary, and he did so without putting anyone in a bad light. There were definitely some darker stories, but he chose to focus on the…

I too, found the short-lived history of the studio in the first part of this film more interesting than the jam sessions that followed. So many cool bands recorded there... It's kinda sad how eras come to an end. Dave Grohl clearly conveys…

The first hour which is purely a documentary on the recording studio is excellent. The remainder of the film, which shows the process of recording songs with the console that everyone refers to, is less interesting but not horrible. Kudos…

As with anything Dave Grohl involves himself in, this film [and soundtrack] exudes his passion for the subject of music... the playing of it, the discussion of it, and as documented here: the creating and archiving of it. The "Whiskey A…
