Ang Lee's 3D film adaptation of Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi, featuring Suraj Sharma as Pi "and his sizable, striped friend in their lifeboat" is scheduled to open December 21, 2012.

I picked up this book at a yard sale for .50 cents. I have a knack for finding great books. A couple of years, perhaps more, it popped into my head, and I just finished reading it. I found it to be hilarious, informative, beautiful. A metaphor for the journey of my life, I loved it.

I now see why this book won awards. It appears to be fanciful fiction, with an amazing story, then the ending.......sorry, you must read the book. Highly recommended to all

Great book. A little slow at times but an entertaining read.

Believable and fantastical at the same time. A story of survival - physically and also mentally

I was very hesitant to read this book, mainly because it seemed to be one of those much-hyped novels, and because its premise seemed quite strange. I was, however, pleasantly surprised (I am not a huge fan of magic realism) - this book had everything I look for in a good read: solid writing and characters, witty humour, and above all - a great STORY to read, no matter whether you want to analyse deeply or not. Bravo! (May 2003 and Summer 2011)

One of my favorite books. I especially loved the first part of the book where his curiosity of religion leads him to a bit of a situation. I still can't imagine how this is going to look on film.
