A few people of the Flat World Society have denounced this film. Is it because global warming doesn't exist? Is it because there is no climate crisis? I remember reading about the effects of greenhouse gases since 1980 school textbooks. I think it's safe to say that Al Gore didn't create global warming in his mind in 2005. So, what is the motive of these people, then? That's easy: addressing the climate crisis rocks the boat of the current energy profiteers who know that alternative energy and wind turbines will affect the way the natural gas and oil industry is perceived, hence the contemporary American marketing firms and p.r. campaigns where expensive lobbyists have been known to buy a U.S. congressperson or two, and dump money into smearing those with strong alternative energy convictions. Now that I've said that, I can defend this movie on its justified claims! I took Astronomy at a university in 2006, and my own text book had a whole chapter on this subject that contains a few of the same, exact charts and data that was used in Mr. Gore's film to discuss the existence of the climate crisis: "The Essential Cosmic Perspective," 4th ed. I'm talking about this film as a documentary, but as a film, it well-exceeded expectations. It is quite masterfully done. It never bores like other documentaries. This film is one of the five best of its year, and the people who rate this with bomb ratings are people who are siding with energy industry's public relations marketing as justification to ignore the quality of the film based on the issue that motivates it rather than the film as a work of art.

I salute 2 Al Gore. I havent read the book but I plan 2 read it sometime...but from what I hav watched....he teaches how global warming will effect the earth in 10 yrs or so if we dont act up...the earth will flood, the ice caps are already melting and the animals are losing their homes..its just terrible...the Earth is at risk now even in 2012 with earthquakes, hot summers, fires, hurricanes, etc...the problem is that sum ppl dnt really care or dnt pay attention 2 these issues..cmon ppl act up! We can save the planet !...just saying...watch this or read it

Drives the message in a disturbing kind of way. Nonetheless, very effective. Well done. A must-see.

The documentary was good but I believe there should be more education on the results of global warming. I enjoyed the Matt Groening skit, it was sadly funny.
