A beautiful book that made me very nostalgic for family vacations! Visually stunning, and the sparse language lets kids fill in the rest with their imagination. It keeps my 2 year old's attention because of the pictures, and I usually adlib a few descriptions as well. Great for summer time or before bed reading (as it is a little 'slow').

This book has a neat idea; it lists many parts of the world and nicely draws each section into a whole. The conclusion is the same, for it shows that all the previous parts are part of something larger. It is a good book to teach kids how important the little things are in making our world what it is.

As a parent, I loved this book, thought it was beautiful. However, my 3 year old daughter didn't go for it and never wanted to read it.

I liked their sand castle.

I think this is a subtle, beautiful book. There's not really a story, but that's not what it's about. It's more about the families and the interconnected relationships that are depicted in the simple words and lush illustrations. I haven't been able to get through it all the way with my daughter without tearing up a bit at the end.
