I liked the movie better. The book was confusing and a little boring, too.

Sweet, but not overly so, story of the life of a mouse in love with a princess. Enjoyable for an adult reader. And the ending is weepy!

I was the librarian at a middle school a couple years back and I read all the classes this book. All grades equally loved it!! I can't wait to read this book with my son when he is older... so cute! And the movie they made of the story is really great too.

What does a red spool of thread, some hot delicious soup, and a Princess have to do with a mouse? And not just any mouse, but a tiny, big eared mouse called Despereaux who loved sunlight, music, and the Princess most of all. Dear Reader, this is a story of all that and treachery, too. There are scary bits about rats and a dungeon, blood and despair. But there are heroic bits as well, and you just have to read this to find out how one little mouse made all the difference because of love.
