Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post-hurricane New Orleans to the Palestinian segregation wall in the West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film.

"I used to tell everyone to go and make art. I thought that everyone should do it... I don't do that much anymore" -Banksy
Banksy: Uhmmm... You know... it was at that point that I realized that maybe Thierry wasn't actually a film maker, and he was maybe just someone with mental problems who happened to have a camera.
Banksy: Most artists take years to develop their style, Thierry seemed to miss out on all those bits.
Banksy: Warhol repeated iconic images until they became meaningless, but there was still something iconic about them. Thierry really makes them meaningless.
Banksy: There's no one like Thierry, even though his art looks like everyone else's.

Whether you love or hate street art, this movie will make you love and hate street art. I sincerely hope that Mr. Brainwash never makes another dollar in his life off of his "art".
could not play it in my DVD player :(
This is a stroke of genius. Many have "embraced" the street art movement, few seen to actually fully understand it, which in itself the beauty of it. This film is fun and entertaining and a jab at counterculture gone pseudo mainstream (gallery venues). It provides some insight to the street artist world and like others have commented it will leave you wondering if Mr. Brainwash is legitimate or legitimately making fun of you (us). A must see.
This was so bad and disappointing I don’t remember much. QED! It’s ‘creativity’, stupid! Not “Objets d’Art”. Objects may carry some signs/resonance, but ‘they’ are not alive anymore. Yeah, I listen to great live music over and over, but the key word is ... . They dissapate. WE are alive. WE create. The Art Mkt is yet another layer away from creativity. And an obviously fraudulent one. Artificial scarcity worshipped in Capitalism. Shame... Creativity like femininity is dominated in our ‘Consensus’ reality and thus not understood. Now, as we re-embrace it and become whole again we over do it. Creativity is only a mystery to those who don’t do it. Any guy w/sisters knows women are not mysteries (alright I over-emphasize). Virus is the word and this too isn’t a mutha’ effin’ mystery; just a part of Life that copies/pastes, ok. Street art is made a big deal of by people afraid to be creative. Get over it. You are easy to get over on. If capitalism wasn’t what we got, the Mob wouldn’t be able to f us so damn easily. We wouldn’t have insurance (protection $). Art is an everyday part of life for everyone.....think of the Japanese writing poems to each season and letting it blow in the wind after reading it to their family/friends... Who cares who is mediated (famous)? The only thing cool about it is if your it. Otherwise, please don’t vote Republican!
Introduction to guerilla, street art. Will give some history on Banksy, if you don't know anything about him. By the end, I don't know if the story about the street art film-maker/artist was true or not, but I found the movie very entertaining. Draw your own conclusions.
I felt tremendously unhip after watching this.
Especially appropriate for viewers who are trying to learn about or understand the nature, objectives, and proponents of street art--one of modernist culture's important movements.
An obsessive guy with a video camera turns into a smash hit as an artist with a brush in Los Angeles. Weird but captivating
Great movie. Great story. At the end, I didn't know if it was a true story or not. I loved that! Also, it was interesting to get a view into the insular world of graffiti artists.
