Add a CommentMy 10-year-old son and I did not enjoy this movie - it was a scattered tale at best, with random silliness rampant and nothing satisfying. It's become kind of joke between us of really bad movies! I will add that the animation was nice.
Story is meh. Characters and character interactions are not very believable. I can sit through almost anything, but this one kept putting me to sleep.
This movie is awesonme.. My kids love it.. My kids ages are: 7 yrs old, 4 yrs old and 7 months old. My youngest son loves it.. He watched the movie the whole time till he fall asleep.. Great for a family movie/ family night movie with some popcorns.
Worst.. Movie.. Ever But I love the accents!! lol!:)
If you found the book charming you will likely be disappointed with the film. It misses most of the point and adds the ridiculous and completely unnecessary character of "vegetable man" who I suspect many children will find terrifying rather than funny.
I loved every minute of it. "Heartwarming" in the description always scares me (like "perky"), but I didn't end up brain-dead afterwards. *disclosure: our hero reminds me so much of someone special I know, how could I not be delighted?
took this dvd to watch with my granddaughter who is 5 ...neither of us found it interesting...course we only watched 5 minutes!
Not so thrilled about this movie. I found it a little strange - especially the magical vegetable character. I guess that I should read the book instead. This won't be an addition to my family film collection.
The film is missing much of the charm and quirkiness that made the book such a wonderful story. The original tale was unique and full of depth–qualities that are lost as result of the changes made to plot and characters. The narration is irritating and the whole thing feels distilled and dumbed down. A bit disappointing. Read the book aloud instead.
I wanted to see this movie mainly because of Emma Watson's role in it (I love her xD) Before watching the movie, I had read the book, and this revealed to me that the plot was darker than one would think for a children's movie. Other than Emma Watson's role in it, I believe the movie was quite good, following the book well, and the animation was enjoyable. It had dark and happy times, and in the end you learn a valuable lesson as well. A good movie for the whole family to see.
