Add a CommentInteresting questions are raised on a number of moral and legal issues, does the torching of millions of dollars of assets while not harming a single person constitute terrorism and thus relegate the convicts to terrorist prisons? How could someone get so frustrated that they would do these acts? How could they get away with it for so long? Can a lumberman whose profit motive legitimately consider himself an environmentalist?
In the UW Horticulture and Jefferson arsons, they were totally clueless about what they were torching. They couldn't even find targets that were actually doing what they're supposedly against. it would be alot easier to get behind at least some sort of idealism if the specific actions weren't so clueless. the dvd doesn't even go into the extent to which the arsonists were uninformed about the actual research at UW. that they were also totally clueless about the Jefferson site research says alot about fanaticism and its drive to mindlessly lash out at anything. Is this is a balanced portrait of the movement: Jake Ferguson as the Greg Allman of the environmental movement.
A++FOR THE ELF!!!!! B+ DVD
