For two years, the strategy they devise--quick, efficient, low risk--works like a charm. Until they kidnap the wrong man. Now two groups they've very much wanted to avoid are after them--the law, in the form of veteran state investigator Kirk Stevens and hotshot young FBI agent Carla Windermere, and an organized crime outfit looking for payback. As they all crisscross the country in a series of increasingly explosive confrontations, each of them is ultimately forced to recognize a brutal truth: The true professionals, cop or criminal, are those who are willing to sacrifice everything."-- Provided by publisher.

Add a CommentThis is a debut book and if so, I predict great things ahead for this author. The premise is interesting and somewhat sad in this current economy, READER BEWARE-out of work recent college graduates resort to kidnapping. What's equally interesting is you find yourself, rooting for both sides. This is a great beach book and highly recommended. The author has a second book and looking forward to it !!
This book might appeal to some but to this reader it was a waste of my time.
Hard to know who to root for - the 'bad' guys or the coppers. Fast paced but not great writing. The ending was contrived and disappointing. I don't get all the hype on this one.
Don't waste your time. I read the first three chapters and returned the book to the library. i gave it 1.5 out of 5 stars. this plot has been recycled over and over and over and made into twenty million different movies and books and its just so old and played out. Read a real book instead.
This book is a total page turning and exciting. Although if you like criminals who are truly professional then you'll be disappointed by this book. Now when I say professional I mean someone who's selfish, cold-blooded, ruthless, intelligent, thinks 10 steps ahead. Someone who will do whatever it takes to survive or to live in paradise. Even if that means killing a local cop, FED, or even your girlfriend. Dropping everything and leaving the country. This book may be title "The Professionals", but they honestly really aren't. Ending was disappointing and sucky and most the characters pissed me off most of the time, because they were the opposite of professional, emotional, and weak.
starts out with an interesting premise ::4 recent college grads cannot find aplace in the current employment market The plot deteriiorates from there. As a police procedural,it's a disaster.I see the library is planning to buy more copies Don't waste your money!
This isn't my normal genre but after a few chapters, I couldn't put it down. This fast paced story always left me wanting to know what was happening next. I even stayed up very late one night to find out how it was going to end. The unique story line and character relationships could lead to a enthralling series. Wonder what the author has in the works?
This is an engaging and quick paced read, with interesting characters and situations. It does better as a script for a TV show than a book, there is a large stretch in credibility here.
