this was a really good book! i loved how witty and smart russell was. the politics were fairly confusing, but not too hard that the story line doesn't make sense. in this book, i could see the details more clearly than the big picture. in other words, i understood what was going on at the moment but couldn't really figure out why they were doing what they were doing. i can see the setting and the general theme from this book being used for the next sherlock movie!
I enjoyed this Mary Russell story more than the previous novel, The Pirate King. This is similar to King's previous works set in the Middle East, but with more developed characters. I found the conclusion a little rapid, but otherwise a very good read, especially if you enjoy the Mary Russell series.
Overly complicated and not very interesting plot. I keep hoping for something as good as the first novels in this series. Not this time.
This is a quite good one in this series. I found the last couple a bit disappointing but this one is vintage Mary Russell. (Although the ins and outs of Moroccan politics in 1923 rather lost me at the end.)
I haven't been able to get into Ms. King's last two books in this series. Go back to the first book and read them in order. I really enjoyed the older ones set in England.
I just finished reading this book. I really enjoyed it. After being disappointed with the last book, The Pirate King, I was happy to see that this book is back in the vein of adventure that I was used to with the other Mary Russell books. Great read.
