The snow and the temperature in Toby Falls were falling quickly. A cold snap was on the way! After school, children happily made snowmen and snow angels, threw snowballs and tobogganed down T-Bone Hill.

The next day, it was colder – and the next day, still colder. Each day that week was colder than the one before. The children no longer played outside because they were inside, trying to stay warm.

On Friday, the temperature hit a new record low. It was SO VERY COLD! People walked quickly, a bitter wind nipping at their noses. Children wore their itchy woolen socks instead of complaining about them. Dogs refused to go out for their usual walks. The mayor wore his toasty pink bunny slippers inside as he fielded complaints from his office about the freezing weather. The doors of the train froze shut and passengers had to be rescued through the windows.

Everyone in Toby Falls was grumpy and down in the dumps. The cold snap was chasing away all the usual warmth of the tight-knit town. Was there anything at all that could warm it up again?

Fortunately, the mayor’s wife had the perfect answer, one which could warm the spirits of every resident of Toby Falls!

A perfect choice of a read-aloud bedtime story, this cozy picture book, illustrated by Marjorie Priceman, will warm the spirits of young listeners.
