Love this. It's a parable about what happens when people don't pay attention - and how fate plays truly unbelievable lessons for people - persisting to manifest the truth. The police need to reopen the investigation into the Barclay child's death. It isn't to focus so much on the French imposter. He's played his role - he's not important anymore. Can't believe the review I read just below me - saying they fast-forwarded through most of it but not all of it' - A recent example of exactly the point this film is trying to illustrate. Everyone is thinking about their vacation, the next app they're gonna buy on their phone or the next 'fix' - to be entertained. Meanwhile, much of the earth goes to hell in a hand basket. Make no mistake, though, this is riveting and there's no reason to fast-forward through it.

This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

This was a documentary that was shot much like a film noir, where the cinematographer modified hues and film speeds to accentuate the mystery and atmosphere. This was one of the most unbelievable stories that really happened several years ago, but with modern science could not happen today (if the intelligence agencies are as smart as they are supposed to be). The quick unraveling of the scheme and mystery makes up for the lack of understanding of what is going on in the first parts of the film.

Despite its true-crime trappings, The Imposter is an utterly gripping and sometimes heartbreaking documentary thriller cleverly told with narrative flair.

Definitely lots of twist & turns in this plot. Weird people get weirder by the minute & just when you think you have it figured out - you'll be surprised.

A creepy documentary and all the more so because it's true. It's hard to imagine how the family could have been so thoroughly duped or why they would pretend that they were ... life certainly is stranger than fiction ...

The Imposter is a documentary and reenactment of the case of a missing teenage boy from San Antonio Texas. A professional imposter (Frederic Bourdin) managed to get Spanish officials and the family to accept Bourdin as the long lost relative even though Bourdin looked nothing like the missing boy. The Frenchman Bourdin had pulled impersonation stunts all over Europe and was in fact wanted by the police in several countries. The whereabouts of the missing boy is still unknown. The Imposter is an interesting account of how Bourdin managed to pull off the impersonation even though it ultimately failed.

Intriguing true story and what appears to be a lot of incompetence in the handling of the case.
Honestly, a different eye colour was not noticed!!!!??

I WATCHED IT BECAUSE IT WAS A TRUE STORY. LOTTA WORK TO GET FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS TO BE INTERVIEWED.
WAS TOO LONG WITH TOO MANY REPEATS. A TRUE CASE OF IDENTITY THEFT. NEVER HEARD OF A PAY PHONE IN PRISION CELL
WHERE HE COULD CALL COLLECT ALL OVER THE WORLD TO GIVE FALSE HOPE TO PARENTS OF MISSING CHILDREN.
PRIVATE DETECTIVE CHARLIE PARKER DID WHAT SPAIN AND THE U.S, FBI,COULD NOT DO.
