Hands down one of my all time favorite books it is up there with the land of stories and harry potter. If I could rate it would be a 5+.

I also read the 2nd book in the keeper of the lost cities series and it was just as amazing as the first, I am looking forward to the 3rd book coming out in November 2014.

12 year old Sophie Foster has always known something was different about her. She has a photographic memory, is a high school senior, and looks nothing like her family. But the strangest thing yet is that ever since she hit her head when she was five, she has been able to hear everything single thought everyone has. When her class goes on a school trip to the museum, her life is changed forever. After living her life hearing people's thoughts, there is something strange about this bright blue-eyed boy, and after they have the same reaction to a group of noisy kindergartners, she knows something is up. And that is when he reveals the reason explaining why she is different, she is an elf. She thinks it's all a joke, until she visits the main elf city, Eternalia, where it is decided she is accepted to go to their prestigious school Foxfire. And as if all of this wasn't weird enough, she is the only person who's mind can't be read, but she can read everyone else's. At this point, a major problem crosses her mind. The day she went to Eternalia, she got in major trouble, how was she going to sneak away day after day to attend Foxfire? She is given two options that could either end up being the worst thing to her, or the worst thing to her family. She can either have the elves fake her death, causing endless grief for her family, or they can do a memory wipe, erasing her from everyone's memories, making it seem like she never existed. What will she choose? Will she stay and fit in at Foxfire? Find out when you read the book.

Summary

Add a Summary

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks…

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.

"Okay" she agreed. If he refused to be serious, so would she. "Fine. I'm an elf. Am I supposed to help Frodo destroy the ring and save Middle-earth? Or do I have to make toys for the North Pole?" - Sophie Foster
