This is a great audio theater production and I enjoyed it very much.

if you're expecting a bunch of action this isn't the book for you, this book has a lot of world building and setting up relationships compared to the first book but i personally prefer that. the ending isn't necessarily a cliffhanger but…

The reading, or rather performances, are excellent. Different actors are assigned to different characters. The story revolves around children, and mainly from their point of view: trying to navigate their new world and escape pursuers.…

The Subtle Knife is the continuation to Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” series. Readers are introduced to Will Parry, a boy who travels through a mysterious portal that leads him into the strange city of Cittàgazze. He later meets up…

is Dark Materials: The Subtle Knife The Subtle Knife is the second installment in the His Dark Materials series and I can say with certainty it is as good, if not better, than the amazing Golden Compass. The inclusion of Will adds a new…

I loved how this book built on the first story. The new characters fit in so well, and it was so interesting to see the world expand. I definitely missed Iorek Byrnison in this book and I felt that Pan was a little quiet, but all in all…

Book 2 of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series - Asriel has continued his plans from part one, and is preparing his forces. Lyra meets a boy named Will, and together they begin to understand the world they find themselves in, and…

I read this book to fulfil the goal read a book that takes place in a country beginning with c. It's a made up country but i'm sure that still counts. I am enjoying this series and i can't wait to see how it ends.

I am truly enjoying listening to this trilogy on audio. The full cast narration continues to blow me away. While I thought The Golden Compass was wonderful, this one was even better! I finished it in no time because I just had to hear what…

This trilogy had a lot of promise but fell real short across the board and the moral of the characters and how corrupt they are is so bad that I truly question how anyone would recommend this as a children’s book. I am not saying this…

A little disappointed in this sequel novel. While still inventive and far-reaching in its fantastical ambitions, I found it to be a little too complicated, with very few of the compelling supporting characters from The Golden Compass…

I enjoyed this much more than the 1st book. It’s less sheer fairytale fantasy, more plausible & realistic. Will is a good character - hope he can teach Lyra some common sense.

Pullman spirals out from The Golden Compass and crafts an equally fascinating, exciting, and compulsively readable follow-up. The world-building is still top-notch, and the introduction of the Will Parry character as Lyra's ride-or-die…

The first book was better, with more of Lyra's world. The Subtle Knife really offended me because of all the religious references... definitely agree with rene (below). In addition, darker and less action mostly because of the…

Truly a classic trilogy. Even better, it can be enjoyed in adolescence and as an adult, so reading it again as an adult now brings nostalgia AND intrigue (still!). Very few fictions deserve such accolades, this one is a masterpiece!…

I enjoyed this more than the Golden Compass. It doesn't have quite as many plot twists as the first book. Lyra and Will are the main characters. Lord Asriel is a minor character in this,as is Mrs. Coulter.

This is the second book in the series; and much darker than the first. The idea of Dust is intriguing, but I did not enjoy this one as much as The Golden Compass.

Another entertaining work of fiction from Philip Pullman. This book goes much deeper into the author's views on Christianity, and Catholicism (not actually named) more specifically. Depending on what your own beleifs are, you might…

I loved this book! I think it might even have been better than the first. I did miss ioerek because he was a very interesting character. Will really made up for that though.
