The first installment in the Amelia Peabody series. An Egyptologist extraordinaire, she's smart, fun, independent, and quirky - someone I’d like to meet IRL. Her sleuthing skills are top notch, and she always gets to the bottom of the…

Elizabeth Peters channels Jane Austen and Agatha Christie in the late Victorian period. Fun read even though I recognized the Agatha Christie formula early and know who the villain was -- maybe that's why it was so much fun to read as I…

A fun, clever read. The writer’s knowledge of Egypt and archeology is apparent but not overwhelming. I’m looking forward to reading the adventures of Ms Peabody.

An excellent debut novel for a mystery series set in Egypt. The feisty, Victorian-era British heroine is a refreshing change, and the historical details add to the plot.

Love all the Amelia Peabody mysteries and everything else she wrote. Sadly Elizabeth Peters has passed. She is missed.
