Story okay, about 300 pages of useless text, must have been paid by the word, book 1 was semi good, book 2 is an endurance test thought it would never end, will wait to read book 3. Penn Cage has become very annoying, hoping he may catch a…

This is the second of the Natchez Burning trilogy. The principal storyline deals with our hero Penn Cage dealing with Colonel Nathan Bedford Knox. I thought the storyline relied too much on improbable twists and turns to tell the story.

Excellent middle book in this Iles trilogy - recommend reading Natchez Burning first. If you think your day was busy .........

I'm happy to see others who have commented found the second book in Greg Isles' Penn Cage trilogy on par if not better with the first (Natchez Burning). Isle weaves unknown pieces of the JFK assassination into the story, while broadening…

Oh boy- this was a heavy read. Details and the story line make for good suspense. Sometimes gruesome detail.

The second book in this trilogy does not disappoint, there is so much action and so much going on that it does not seem like it is 700 pages. A very credible JFK assassination theory is put forth. I appreciate the fact that Iles, expects…

Greg Iles has a way of telling a story that it makes you want to check the facts, as you wonder if fiction is closer to the truth than what you see in the newspapers. His trilogy has you waiting for each book and the connections between…

Excellent follow-up to the first book in the trilogy. It is interesting how he shows another idea that was around at the time for JFK's killing. On the waiting list for the next book. Can hardly wait. Hope the finish continues with the…

When I read this book I presumed that all the details on the JFK assassination were fiction. I checked, and he didn't make any author's notes on that. So I was quite surprised when I watched a documentary some time later entitled 'Did…

I have just listened to 3 hours of this book explaining what has happened before this book begins. I don't think I care enough to read the series in order!!!! I don't think I have ever encountered a book that requires so much…

So pleased to find this followup to Natchez Burning. Well worth the read - I couldn't put it down (and it is a huge book). It tied up some loose ends. I am now looking forward to the final in the trilogy. He's a great author.

Part 2 of a trilogy. Long at 800 pages but a engrossing read and it was done in no time. More shananigans in Natchez with racists and power abusers killing and maiming to keep control and Penn cage fighting to find the truth, keep his…

Not as good as Natchez Burning. The JFK conspiracy is a bit far fetched to be credible. The book is a bit too long (800 pages). It would have been better if it were around 400 pages in length.

Picks up where Natchez Burning left off....and it is just as long a story! 32 cd's! Some parts were repeated quite a bit but it was a typical Iles book and I liked it...lot of surprises at the end....and he leaves us hanging AGAIN!!! Dude…

Not as good as Natchez Burning - but am still looking forward to the last part of the trilogy, hopefully early in 2016.

Can't wait for the last in this great trilogy..enjoyable historical fiction. Some of the twists and turns aren't realistic, but they make the roller coaster ride interesting. Don't let the size of this great book deter you- well worth…

At over 800 pages, this book was a bit intimidating to begin, but after the first bite it was hard to put down. There was one section where it felt uncomfortably like I was studying for a history exam, but the rest of the book was far…

Oh My!! This amazing author has subtly entwined numerous plots, characters, and perspectives, while keeping readers apace in this 800 page engrossing novel. And at the end? Impatiently waiting for the sequel in this 3 novel trilogy. …
