Uh, no, The City and The Stars is not an alternative title. It's the title of separate novel that's a serious rewrite of Against the Fall of Night.

AKA The City and the Stars this is a Golden Age classic. I reread it every decade or so and enjoy its poetics as much now as the first time, many many years ago. One of the 100 best science fiction novels ever.
