A++? Maybe B-, if you're feeling generous. This live album by Joe Cocker is probably his definitive recording, for what that's worth. I've never been much of a fan of his garbled, gruff soul-style singing or his twitchy performances, in which he looks as if he's having an epileptic fit (John Belushi did a brutally accurate impression of him early on in SNL.). This reissue of his live album includes unreleased live tracks and few studio recordings. Almost all of the songs are covers, including versions of the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Dylan, the Box Tops, Sam & Dave and the Band. No one ever accused Cocker of originality. The saving grace is his crack band, which featured Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge, Jim Keltner, Bobby Keys (who played with the Stones), and Carl Radle (Derek & the Dominos). There's also an accompanying live film. If you liked the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends," wait until you get nearly 9 minutes of Cocker belting it out!
FYI: The title comes from Noel Coward. Classy.

A++ All the way….A must have CD - worth the long library wait.
