Good book showing even young children can improve the world through hard work, determination and a help from the community. Included with the story of water before and after the well, are the very real threats to children during the civil war in Uganda. Parents should consider previewing due to violent topics.
Six-year-old Ryan was so bothered by the thought of children in Africa who didn’t have clean water that he did extra chores to raise money to buy them a well. Jimmy was Ryan’s pen pal in the village where the well was built. The well brought them together.
My daughter really learned a lot from reading this book and continues to talk about Ryan and Jimmy as if she knows them personally. This truly is a remarkable, inspiring story.
