VERY GOOD 90 minute PBS documentary of Donner Party of 1846 and their exploration of a 'new' route to travel West - lots of fine still photos and commentary.

Presented by the PBS Network through their "American Experience" series - This 90-minute historical documentary looks at the gruesome tragedy that befell the pioneering "Donner Party" in the winter of 1846-1847.

The journey of the Donner Party is very well-documented and the events that took place while they were trapped in the Sierra Nevada mountain range is a "real-life" horror story that has been told many times over.

Through stills and interviews with American historians - This well-researched presentation gives the viewer a detailed account of the inevitable fate and misfortune of the Donner Party.
