This isn't your average love story. The message of the book is just so beautiful. The way the author perfected the book and made it shine is absolutely outstanding. I just love her obsessions of wanting to be kissed, it makes it more funny :)

This is a really good book. Talks about the concepts of inner beauty and what being pretty really means.

this book was 373 pages of okay writing. read it during a snow storm when there was nothing else to do and still wouldn't recommend it. really slow, the guy- Jacob- is a cool character, the girl- Terra- is pretty annoying, but you can let this go as the slowness of the book allows you to drift off and forget your annoyance for a bit. Overall, could've been a good book, but just wasn't.

"Terra Rose has two main objectives: 1) hide the port-wine birthmark that covers half of her face, 2) finish high school and escape to "a college far, far away" from her abusive father. But after her dad derails her plans, Terra feels lost, and it's not until gorgeous Goth-boy Jacob comes into her life that she begins to see things differently. This emotional story about true beauty and inner strength includes fascinating details about geocaching (GPS-enabled treasure-hunting) and a life-changing trip to China; it also has brilliantly crafted characters and a romance that rivals the best of Gayle Forman or Sara Zarr." This book begins slowly, but soon becomes a lovely exploration of family relationships/dynamics, friendship, honesty, courage, beauty, and self-discovery. Realistic, wonderfully drawn characters make this novel a stand-out. Terra's & Jacob's developing friendship is especially delightful, surprising, and fresh.

I've read hundreds of books, and this is one of the best. I highly recommend this book for self-concious teens. It is so realistic to actual teenage life. A truly wonderful read.

This story was such a wonderful read that I couldn't stop once I got started. It wasn't just a YA novel, it was a story that anyone could read, enjoy, and learn from. Terra is a character that will stay with you forever. You felt her pain, as she has to live with this mark on her face, and how she tries to hide it in the beginning to the point where no one knows about it anymore except her and her family. Her struggle with accepting herself is the basis of the book, and the reader is taken along for the heart wrenching yet soul finding ride. Her mother's story is equally as powerful as Terra watches her mother break out of the shell created by Terra's father. Oh man, I really hated Terra's father. It's one of the few times where I have felt so strongly against a character. Any kind of abuse is horrible but verbal abuse can be even more painful than physical. There are no bruises or broken bones, but your spirit and soul can be destroyed by words even more than fists. He had to go down as one of the most hated characters for me ever.
