Not a particularly well filmed documentary but the story is so compelling and carries so much weight it must be heard. Truly emotional.

In the Fall of 2005, 32-year old Dr. Andrew Bagby was found murdered in a Pennsylvania state park. The prime suspect Dr. Shirley Turner, his estranged girlfriend, promptly fled to Canada. While his parents fought for her extradition back to the USA Turner stunned everyone by claiming she was pregnant with Andrew's child...a boy she named Zachary. In this amazing documentary, Andrew's childhood friend Kurt Kuenne prepares a time capsule of sorts for Zachary so the child will know something of his father when he grows up. Following Andrew's grimly determined parents as they fight for custody of their only grandson, Kuenne casts a disparaging eye on Canada's pathetically outdated judicial system as it forces the grieving couple to jump through endless hoops. But he saves the final insult for last. The film's frantic editing style, composed of jump cuts and overlapping dialogue, is problematic at first but once the story really starts you will be glued to your seats.

A love letter to an adored son and his family and friends, and a shocking documentary about the inadequacies of the legal and social welfare systems. The film is framed as the story of a father as told to his son. As a mere audience member, though, I would have liked more information, especially about Shirley Turner. The sound track is mostly banal, and sometimes tasteless elevator music. However, the emphasis of the film stays on some remarkable people, rather than a sordid crime, as it should. NOTE: no, I do not know what the deal is with the Wes Anderson-like cover art. The art on the DVD is even more doubtful, featuring as it does a baby crawling over a chalk outline of a body.

I think this is an excellent documentary film. It is not for the faint of heart, however. The subject matter is disturbing but its presentation is excellent, which makes this a powerful and emotionally devastating piece of work. It is not a feel-good movie, but it is thought-provoking and worth the 90 or so minutes it takes to watch.

An excellent documentary with a Canadian (Newfoundland) connection. This tragic story, with its twists and turns throughout, was well told. My only problem is I find director Kurt Kuenne going a bit too fast in some places when there was no need to rush a dialogue or a scene. A minor flaw in an otherwise well done film.

This film is an unbelievable story that ruined my day. The documentary is very well made however it is seriously sad and heart breaking.

I believe it is a must see documentary even though it is a very very sad story. There is so much to learn about.

This is one of the most brilliant documentaries you will ever see in your life. I rated it 5 stars here, and 9/10 at IMDB.

This doc will shake you to your core. Horrify you. Enrage you.

Have a firm grip on your box of tissues, you will use them all before this film ends.

If you don't cry rivers of tears for this story, it means you have lost your humanity.

Nothing will prepare you for what happens in this unfortunately real tale.

This is a heartbreaking story, but one that must be known to more of us, so it can never be repeated.
