I started reading this book because I have started binge watching the tv series over the past few weeks. I love Jesse Metcalfe and Meghan Ory in it, they do a great job and their characters are very likeable. Unlike their book characters. In the novel, I discovered I disliked Trace immensely. He is pushy, and manipulates Abby from the get-go. Being 32 years old, I would think that the man would be more mature than to seek petty revenge for something happening a decade earlier, especially stooping to such actions that affect Abby's girls dramatically, and throw the whole family into chaos. After reading about one of his temper tantrums during the middle of a lunch, I couldn't deal with any more.
On top of that, Jess was so overly dramatic that she was getting on my nerves. She didn't want to take any responsibility for her actions, and went from wanting her family's support to being furious that they extended that support and advice. Then Woods would mention her ADD, as if that were an excuse. ADD has nothing to do with being a spoiled brat.
I rarely put down a book halfway through, but this one I did-because, otherwise, I was worried I wouldn't be able to enjoy the TV show.
It's not the worst book I've read-the writing was well done and I liked the rest of the characters, but it certainly isn't worth my time when I have such a long to-read list!

This seems to be the first book in the series of Chesapeake Shores.
