If you love the nostalgia of The Sandlot and the wry, hyperbolic narrative of A Christmas Story, you'll be delighted by Philip Gulley's memoir of his youth in 1960's Indiana. Laugh-out-loud funny, this collection of stories about the everyday pitfalls, pratfalls, and small joys of childhood ranks among my favorite memoirs and is one of my go-to suggestion when someone is looking for something light and feel-good. Genuinely funny and charming.
