The sheer volume of material written about World War II makes one naturally wonder why creating a new book is even necessary, despite there being additional relevations as time goes by of previously secret material. Historian Andrew Roberts' fantastic work answers that question by delving specifically into the relationship between the two American and two British figures who directed military policy. Franklin Roosevelt and George Marshall often had differing interests with Winston Churchill and Alan Brooke, their respective counterparts from 'across the pond'. Yet their mutual ability to rise above their conflicts to save Western civilization is described quite well in this nice book.
