I decided to read Watching What We Eat after listening to an episode of A Taste of the Past on Heritage Radio. This is a dense account of the food television genre. Where it started with short simple recipes on the radio and television to the Food Network and beyond. She talks about the major characters from Dione Lucas, Julia Child, Graham Kerr to Sara Moulton and Emeril Lagasse and many more. She talks about what worked as well as the criticisms.
It was an enjoyable read for someone who likes food and for someone who likes to watch people make food. I am also curious to watch the old episodes of not just Julia Child but those of the Galloping Gourmet and the Frugal Gourmet.
