The audiobook of this sixth novel in the Isabel Dalhousie series, beautifully narrated by Davina Porter, is the perfect commuter’s balm. Isabel is an Edinburgh philosopher and editor of the Review of Applied Ethics who gets involved in the affairs of others. Life in this humane and well-heeled part of Edinburgh is kind, thoughtful and gentile – there is great comfort in knowing that things will turn out well in this best of all possible worlds.
