Colin Tudge tells the history of Ida--a perfectly fossilized early primate predating the most famous primate fossil, Lucy, by 44 million years--and her place in the world. At the same time, he explains how Ida opens a stunningly evocative window into our past and changes what we know about primate evolution and, ultimately, our own.

Very informative, pretty entertaining (in a nerdy, science way). Touches on the Eocene period, the history of fossil discoveries and controversy in the scientific community, particularly primate and focuses on the discovery of an early primitive fossil, which has an interesting tale of its own. I think that the book is fair in acknowledging what remains controversial, although the discussion of other primate fossils seems incomplete based on a Scientific American review. I was looking to increase my understanding of primate evolution and was thoroughly pleased with what I got.
