After the American withdrawal from Vietnam, thirteen year old Y’Tin and his family and friends must defend themselves from the North Vietnamese army. But Y’Tin’s passion is elephants – all he dreams about is becoming an elephant handler and fighting is not part of his plan. When his village is attacked Y’Tin and his friends escape into the jungle with the elephants. After surviving the dangers of the jungle and being reunited with his family Y’Tin becomes more determined to leave his homeland and live his dream in a peaceful place.
