"Whatever it takes." That was Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's vow as the worst financial panic in more than fifty years gripped the world and he struggled to avoid the once unthinkable: a repeat of the Great Depression. Brilliant but temperamentally cautious, Bernanke researched and wrote about the causes of the Depression during his career as an academic.

Wessel is such a hack! A complete farcical package as far as honest financial journalism goes - - a total fraudster. Bernanke continued Greenspan's policies of aiding and abetting the speculators and banksters and artificially pumping up the housing/real estate values by the manipulation of interest rates and monetary policy at the Fed. Then, when the banksters' Godzilla-sized insurance swindles were realized (endless naked swaps againt various debt vehicles), Bernanke and company (Geithner, and others) came to their rescue, while screwing the rest of us!
