The World Health Organization recently rated America thirty-seventh in health outcomes, on par with Serbia. Tackling head-on the three major myths of American medicine, Dr. Weil shows how medical schools fail to give future doctors the education they need to care for patients, how insurance companies have destroyed our opportunity to get excellent care, and how pharmaceutical companies have come to rule our lives. The solution involves nothing less than the creation of a completely new culture of health and medicine in this country.--From publisher description.

This is one of the most important books in our time that healthcare professionals, and those who seek their services should read. Though Dr Weil is from the USA, what he says does have some relevance in our healthcare here in Ontario/Canada. I am an ER Trauma nurse and a Holistic Practitioner, and I can tell you Complementary Therapies and Integrative Healthcare are one of the next important things that will affect our system over the next few decades.
Dr Weil knowledge in the medical system, from a western or conventional means is important and we need it; though he helps open your eyes to the next steps we need to be aware of.
Take a chance and read this book.
