A Dog's Purpose
This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog's search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, this touches on the universal quest for an answer to life's most basic question: Why are we here? Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey's search for his new life's meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8 year old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog. But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey's journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders, will he ever find his purpose? Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh out loud funny, this book is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog's many lives, but also a dog's eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man's best friend. This story teaches us that love never dies, that our true friends are always with us, and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.

I am a bonafide cat lover if it must come down to dogs or cats. I don't know what made me check this book on CD out, other than a hope that I would learn to understand the canine world a little better. Well, I LOVED it!!! What an eye opener! If only all people were as intuitive, this world would be a far better place. I took his dissing of cats and horses with a grain of salt. I believe all animals are intuitive, with perhaps the exception of fruit flies. Anyway, I loved the book, and if I loved it, a dog lover will go nuts for it! Five stars and a must read!

What a wonderful book! It was SO good, in fact, that the day I finished reading it, I came back in and checked out the audiobook, which I am now loving every bit as much as the printed book.
Bailey searches for his purpose in life, that which he reincarnates over and over, to find. He endures feral dogs, a menacing dog torturer (and possibly killer), a stupid horse which almost kills Bailey and his boy, and a love so warm it transcends death.
Five stars.

Great audiobook for dog lovers. Be prepared for lots of chuckles and a few tears. A lovely read that appears to get right into a dog's mind,

If you love dogs, you'll appreciate them even more after listening to this! If you've been wanting to get a dog and haven't yet, this will inspire you to visit the pound. The reader is terrific, sounding the way a dog might sound if it could talk: friendly, accepting and undemanding. Lovely!
