I'm suspecting some rewriting of history by the author as his spin directly contradicts other authors who sound more credible, like Eric Metaxas in "If you can Keep it". So I agree with the listed review.

Interesting to learn about the history of not just America but also Japan, Russia, Phillipines, China and other countries in the time period (late 19th century). However, much of the focus of this books is to demonstrate the American, and especially Theodore Roosevelt's, philosophy of a Teuton/Arian/Anglo-Saxon superiority. No doubt this is true but one gets the sense that we are not getting a balanced view of the American view of the world. For example, Roosevelt was virtually his own Secretary of War and Secretary of State and made many important decisions without consulting with Congress.
