I put off reading this one because I thought it would be more about the teens - and who wants to re-live those years of angst? But it is more about the mothers and how their relationships with each other and their daughters are affected, and what they all learn about themselves. The fact that these girls were top of their class and popular made the idea that they'd make this pact is improbable at first, although, eventually the original reason for the pact becomes evident. It did keep me reading, as I enjoy stories that delve deeply into relationships and how events affect them.

I really enjoyed this book! I had a hard time putting it down. I wished that they could have focused more on the daughter and her journey through the pact and pregnancy, rather than the book mostly being about how it affected Susan's work life and job. Overall, awesome book, happy ending for all.

As a mom this was definitely an enjoyable and thoughtful read. Not something I would typically pick up, as it was chosen through my book club, I was surprised at how much I liked it. I thought the characters were easy to relate to and thought the range of reactions were pretty representative of how something like this might be reacted to in a real life situation. I would definitely reccommend this book. I would even consider reading it WITH my daughter when she is of age, its a good conversation starter/learning opportunity. Lots of ways to take this work of fiction and apply it to real life.

Fascinating read. I would've liked to understand the girls motivation a little more, but the adult characters were well-developed and intriguing. I had a hard time putting it down.

Good plot, but it could have included more from the girls' perspectives. Also, included way too many details that basically got at the same thing over and over. Could've been much shorter. Liked the happy ending. It's a book after all, not real life. It's allowed to be happy.
