Great novel for those who enjoy things slightly out of the ordinary. Builds suspense through the entire book ending in dramatic fashion. A classic on my home shelf!

Wow! A long book, but wonderfully creepy! It's very interesting how King has combined his usual horror writing with an element of sci-fi. That said, I did feel like it dragged a bit in areas. A lot of what was included didn't really serve to advance the story; maybe cutting a few pages could have done the book good.

To me, King's novels have been either gripping and very enjoyable or so utterly boring I couldn't finish them. The Tommyknockers was a book I didn't want to put down. The plot reminded me of 'Salem's Lot, where the townspeople are transformed into something terribly creepy. What I liked about The Tommyknockers wasn't so much the fright factor (which was more sci-fi than bone-chilling horror), but rather King's interplay among the characters: how the "transformation" affected the relationships with each other and with outsiders. A long book, but a good read.
