The book starts with what seems an innocent trip to the amusement park and is the
beginning of a chain of events that has David confused about his family, his job and his
sanity.......good thriller...

couldn't get into it. didn't like the Harwood character. took too long to start telling wife's story, and then it was just too "that's it? that's her story?" he's a hit and miss writer to me

It has been a while since I've read a book that I didn't want to stop reading. This one was very hard to put down, all sorts of twists and turns. A very good read, though the ending was a bit disappointing. I will be reading his other books for sure.

** 1/2 stars. David Harwood has the "perfect" life. He is a newspaper reported with a wife and son he adores. His wife disappears suddenly and it gradually looks like David is skillfully being framed for murdering her. Why does he find her birth certificate hidden in an envelope with a key? Has anything about his idyllic family ever been true? I liked this book better than "The Accident". There are several plot twists, but not so many that they are not plausible. Mr. Barclay seems to have a theme of "nothing is what it seems" in his books. Mild recommendation for this one, I definitely wanted to know how everything resolved and explained the disappearance.

Ack! Who writes these descriptions? Don't tell all! We just want to know a little about it, not half the story. TMI!

Competent writing, but the first 10 pages or so didn't encourage me to care enough to keep reading.

A real page-turner, I'll definitely read more by this author.

Intriguing all night mystery read; many intertwining plots, startling character analysis, and humorous dialogue. One point—the ending involved a few twists too many. Sometimes a little less is more for greater climax impact.

Disappointing ending to an otherwise fast fun reading of a man caught in a web of lies which has him framed for a murder that did not happen. The disappointment is a short side plot involving his son and an insignificant character which resolves itself with seeming indifference and no purpose. Strange how writers do this sort of thing, not only in books but also in movies, adding something completely irrelevant to the main story. Would have been a four star without that distraction.
