Riverworld is one of those rare pilots to get two chances as an ongoing series in a decade. The first was all the way back in 2003 featuring Brad Johnson. It didn't have a very high budget and felt very dated at its release, as if it belonged in the 90's. This one (2009) had a better budget, better special effects, and better writing and acting. Yet it suffered the same fate, as a pilot to a TV show that was never picked up. Fans of the Philip Jose Farmer book series will probably prefer this version, though neither reach anything close to the overall story in the books. If you haven't read the books, I would recommend reading them before viewing either TV releases. You'll get the full story, and a better appreciation for Farmer's epic.

Classic story of good vs evil, presented in an entirely original format that no other film has remotely achieved. I have not seen a film that is as imaginative in years.

SOLID storyline, apt performances from virtually unknown but unforgettable actors....this creative masterpiece is way long, but I wished it was even longer!

This is a thinking persons film...open minded and not swayed by the crap that most films present in the quest for box office receipts. Despite the primary "Sci-Fi" genre it fits well into, there is much more of a human interest angle that is poignant and entertaining.

This isn't some low budget attempt at movie making, but qualifies to be called a film. I salute the visionary in our precious library system to make this epic available!

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
