The worst yet of the series. The dialogue seems to be an attempt at being smart and witty (as found in an Oscar Wilde play) but is anything but. Tedious and long. Definitely won't be reading any more from this series

Good mystery once the reader gets past the beginning where characters are introduced and the situation is set up. Starts out a little slow until the main plot gets going.

The ninth book in the Detective Joe Sandilands series

This was really a very silly mystery--I don't know why I got through even 162 pages of it. I guess I thought that it was going to get better. When Sandilands was in India, the books were wonderful. I guess Cleverly is off my list.

Long and way less fun than most of this series.

"Once again, Barbara Cleverly proves she’s one of the best of the neo-Golden Age authors."
