A non-fiction collection of photographs by the author of *Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children*. In addition to the peculiar real-life photos used by Riggs for his fantasy series, he has long collected photos with interesting captions that are written on them. He finds these at flea markets, yard sales, and junk shops. The story of how he began collecting is startling. There are humorous pictures, heart-breaking ones, and ones that are just evidence of the lives of everyday people. As you keep going, you notice what a wide variety of pictures there are -- and the sense grows that you are snooping in other people’s lives. It’s not just odd; in some ways it is a contribution to American history of the 20th Century.

Just a great books.

Many of the photos have sweet noted written on the back.

There are some real saucy comments too.

A great way to spend the afternoon.

I just happened to read a review of this book and decided I had to read it.

Some of the pictures were funny or touching but there are several pages of pictures of a young girl that tells a story about her life that was so sad.

I really liked this book. I've checked it out twice.

When books say they are haunting etc, I am a bit of a cynic. But this absolutely is - especially a chapter of photos of a girl called Janet Lee. Astonishing and emotional stuff.
