Of the series, I think this one was my favorite. Snyder's relentless pacing, huge challenges, and character humility really combine to make this a lovely read. By the end of it, I finally like Yelena.

As others have said before me, this third book was the worst in the trilogy. The plot meanders all over the place, partly because it starts off dealing with sloppy leftovers from book two. Characters betray each other and switch sides so often some of the motivations don't even make sense any more. Powerful magic is thrown around without much explanation. It's a shame, because every once in a while there were some appealing details, like the horses having pet names for the humans, that reminded me of the potential of the first book. My favourite parts related back to the characters and plot of the first book, Poison Study, not the convoluted, extended plot of books two and three. If each of the books had stood of their own, storywise, I suspect it would have been a much stronger trilogy, but such is not the fashion these days, unfortunately.

Weakest of the three books. A lot of tedious travelling and wandering, followed by a quick and sudden ending. What gives?

Interesting, but not as interesting as the other two. Maybe because I read the other two around the same time, and had to wait 3 months to read this. I orobably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't needed to wait.

Decent enough however once the first books concept expired everything else seemed trivial in comparison

The book was a nice conclusion to the series - it took a little bit to get into it and the plot of deception of the main mage was not my favourite, but still a cozy good read on a quiet day.

I loved this book! It is just as good as the first two. I absoloutly LOVE all of these books. No matter how terrifying some of the people are in these books, they always somehow leave me with a good feeling. I love the ending.

I good book... I wished that the author make a third book.... though I like the first book better... Still a good book that you don't want to put down once you started...

Violence: Much of it happens offstage, but a lot of people die in unpleasant ways in this one.
